In the past parts of the history of the series, it was about two license plates of Final Fantasy, today I am going to tell about the first branch in the series, called The Final Fantasy Legend. I also want to warn in advance that in this part there will be few screenshots and illustrations T.To. There are almost no them on the Internet, and those that are difficult to distinguish from screenshots in the second part of this branch. Let’s go.
The Final Fantasy Legend.Setting and plot.
The events of The Final Fantasy Legend occur in several worlds converging in one giant tower, which the Creator himself built in ancient times for communication purposes (God in the Japanese version). There are four main worlds in total, each is located on a certain floor of the tower: the world of the continent extends at the base, the world of the ocean on the 5th floor, the world of the sky-on the 10th, the world of ruins-on the 16th. On different floors of the tower, time flows unevenly, some worlds are at the dawn of the emergence of civilization, while others have reached high technological progress. Various kinds of monsters live in the tower, most of them are hostile, but some are friendly and peacefully coexist next to people. The branch of the human race is mutants who use magic descendants of the Union of People with the ancient peoples who once lived in the territory of the Continent world.
The world of the continent is controlled by three kings who wage an endless war with each other. Each of them has a certain artifact necessary to open the tower gate. The world of the ocean consists of several small islands surrounded by huge masses of water, the message between them is carried out by means of tunnels dug underground. A significant part of this world is in the power of ubiquitous pirates who control all the seas and do not allow the civilian population to travel on ships. The world of the sky is a gigantic piece of earth, soaring high in the clouds, the world is under the control of a powerful dictator living in a flying castle. And finally, the world of ruins is a high -developed prosperous metropolis in the past, and now the post -apocalyptic ruins, which resulted in the result of continuous attacks of monsters.
Standing right in front of the tower, the hero and his team understand that they will not be able to get to paradise until they take off the protective seal from the entrance gate. At the base of the tower, the so -called world of the continent, the three kings of Armor, Swurd and Schilde are struggle for the possession of legendary artifacts, which, having connected together, are able to remove the seal. Having visited the king of Armor, the characters find out that he is very in love with the girl, and although the feelings between them are mutual, she cannot marry him, since the evil bandit holds her native village hostages. Heroes defeat the bandit, and the king as gratitude gives them his armor – one of the artifacts. Soon the King Swurd attacks the characters, but they come out winners and take his sword – the second artifact. The last artifact comes to the protagonists after the death of King Shild, devoted and killed by his butler. They return the objects received by the statue of the great warrior and receive the mysterious black sphere, but immediately after that they are attacked by the first demon controlled by Asura – the Black Turtle Ganba. Heroes defeat him, with the help of the black sphere they remove the seal from the gate and enter the tower.
The detachment rises higher and ends up in the world, from all sides surrounded by water (NM does not resemble). Through the network of underground tunnels, they get to the flying island and travel on it in the district until they meet old ru-oh. On his advice, the characters find the bathyscaphe, plunge to the bottom of the ocean and float to the underwater palace, where they are met by the second demon-the lazored dragon Sei-Ryu. Having won, they get half the blue sphere, the other half gives them ryu. Both fragments are connected together, which allows the heroes to rise to the next level-the world of the sky, where the white tiger Bai-hu is dominated by his army. The tyrant recently dealt with the rebels of underground resistance, destroying all his enemies except Millie and Joanne, the daughters of the leader of the militia. Heroes find them and try to protect them from the villain, but Millie betrays his sister, and the whole group falls into enemy captivity. Having got out, the characters come into a confrontation with the demon, he tries to kill Millie, but Joanne is substituted under attack and, thus, saves the traitor. After the victory over the boss, the detachment takes a white sphere and goes to the next floors of the tower.
The fourth world, post-apocalyptic ruins, holds in fear the red bird Su-zaku, protected by an impregnable force field. Trying to escape, the heroes find themselves in an abandoned metro station and meet the girl Sayak, who directs them to a nearby city. There, the characters enter into confrontation with the leader of the biker gang named Co-Tyo, but his sister Sayak forces them to reconcile and, combining efforts, challenge the demon to terrorizing the population. Together they collect details for a device that can turn off the power field, while the co-have sacrifices its life in order to lead the heroes through the nuclear power plant. The city is flooded by monsters, and Su-dzak abducts Sayak. The detachment destroys the demon and seizes the red sphere.
Continuing the ascent, the heroes discover the remains of the family, whose members also once tried to get to paradise, but failed, and also find the library with hints that the actions of the main villain Asura are controlled by someone else. They meet the antagonist at the very top that protects the last door – he offers each of the characters the possession of other worlds, but they refuse and win it. A trap suddenly works in front of the door, and the entire group is discarded to the very bottom of the tower. They decide not to stop the journey and, having received the blessing of all friendly characters met in the game, go upstairs along the bypass path, where four demons who managed to resurrect by then win again. At the end of the journey, they meet the creator himself and find out that the demons and the whole tower are actually only part of the game planned for entertainment. Many brave warriors unsuccessfully tried to rise here, finally, as planned, mortals overcame all the obstacles and defeated all evil-for this they relied on a reward, fulfillment of any desire. However, the heroes who are furious with such manipulation refuse to reward and abandon the creator. He is confident in his omnipotence, but the team boldly attacks him and wins in a long difficult battle. At the end of the battle, the characters stand at the threshold of the cherished door leading to another unknown dimension, they reason for a long time, enter or not go inside, and eventually decide to return back to their native world. The universe on the other side remains a mystery.
During the passage of The Final Fantasy Legend, the player controls a batch of four heroes, leads them according to the locations of the fictional world, explores the dungeons, fights with opponents and interacts with non -game characters – the events of the game unfold in various cities, castles, caves and other similar places. Initially, the game space is limited by the world of the continent, but when the tower is reached, access to other worlds opens. At any time and anywhere, with the exception of the battles, the player is free to preserve the progress achieved and during the next appeal to the game to start passing from the same place. Movements between locations are carried out through a global map, the player freely moves the characters within geographical barriers, such as water or mountains. The purpose of the game is to find access to the next level, that is, go up to the next floor of the tower. Like the games of the Final Fantasy series, battles with opponents occur randomly-monsters are invisible and attack the characters at a time when they move on a global map or any other hostile location.
Before the start of the passage, the player must choose the class, gender and name of the future “group leader”. Three classes are available, each with their strengths and weaknesses: people, mutants (Espers in the Japanese version) and monsters – the chosen class cannot be changed, it remains with the character until the very end of the game.
During the game process, you can attach up to three additional characters to the team, for this it is necessary to visit the so -called guilds of partners, which are located in each settlement. New recruits can replace the fallen fighters, but the leader of the group is indispensable and should be in the team throughout the entire passage. The further the plot develops, the more strong heroes join the detachment.
The success of the participation of characters in https://iwild-casino.uk/ battles largely depends on personal characteristics, which, in turn, are divided into four categories, and are measured in the range from 1 to 99 points. The damage depends on the strength of the strength, the defense is responsible for the absorption of the damage of enemy strikes, dexterity affects the effectiveness of the use of remote weapons and special skills, and also allows you to evade opponents, the effectiveness of magic depends on mana. The health of the characters is determined by the glasses of life (HP) – their maximum value increases and can reach 999 points. Characteristics directly depend on the character class – people have higher HP, strength and protection, while physically weak mutants are endowed with good mana and are much better for witchcraft spells. In order to increase characteristics, people and mutants can use various equipment, while monsters indicators depend exclusively on the subclass.
People increase characteristics through special items with the corresponding name, for example, Strength increases strength, HP200 increases the maximum number of lives. The attributes of mutants increase by accidental principle immediately after the battles, while new abilities can be added in the process and old. Monsters develop through eating meat, which remains after battles – depending on the origin of the meat, the monster in a strong or weak side changes the subclass, or completely restores health.
In the games of the Saga series (read below) the main function of equipment is to increase personal characteristics. For example, a golden helmet, worn on a character, increases its protection indicator, the mifryl sword increases the attack, etc. D. The number of items in which the character can simultaneously be dressed depends on the class: people wear eight things, mutants – four things, monsters – not a single. The armor is divided into five types: shields, helmets, bibs, mittens and shoes. From each type, only one item can be equipped on a character. Weapons, including swords, hammers, whips, books of spells and pistols, a limited number of times is used, after which it breaks and becomes unusable – broken items are subject to restoration in cities, and then can be used again. Shields are activated in battles to block enemy blows, they also have a fixed strength and are destroyed at a certain moment.
The abilities of mutants and monsters directly depend on combat experience and subclass. They can be divided into four categories: attacking, status, treating and permanent. The attacking abilities and spells used in battle cause damage to a certain element to the opponents, status impose various harmful statuses (for example, “blindness”), and useful to allies – useful. The treating skills restore the glasses of the goals of the goal and, unlike other types, can be used outside the battle. Some of them have specific properties, in particular, they can annoy the enemy group or suck out of them. The ability of constant action works throughout the battle, increasing or lowering the character resistance to certain types of attacks. Each spell or ability is also limited by a fixed amount of applications, after the limit of the limit, the detachment should visit the hotel and reload them there.
When the characters meet with opponents, the game switches from a travel mode to the battle. Enemies are located in the upper part of the screen, while a detachment of heroes – in the lower; The control of what is happening is carried out by step by step using the interface text menu. Before the start of each course, the player should make a choice, accept or flee. In the first case, it becomes an affordable substitution with a set of teams for each character: attack, defend, conjure magic or use equipment. After choosing a task for each of the heroes, the battle itself begins, and the sequence of actions depends on the dexterity indicator of the units located on the battlefield. If the player tries to escape, and this attempt will be unsuccessful, the whole team misses the move, taking on the attacks of current opponents. The battle ends in case of successful escape, the death of all enemies or loss of all members of the detachment – after the defeat of the group, the game must be reloaded from the last conservation.
Victory in the battle brings the team money (GP) and objects. Failed enemy monsters sometimes leave behind meat, which can immediately be eaten by monstrous characters. At the same time, the characteristics and mutant characters increase, they, in addition, after winning the opponents, can get some random spell. The points of life lost during the battle are restored with the help of attending objects and spells, after visiting a hotel or a fountain with living water. If during the battle one of the characters completely lost his lives, then he disappears one “heart” – it is necessary to go to the city and revive it in a building with a large emblem in the form of a heart. A hero who has no more heart left, is not subject to revival.
Background creation and consequences.
The Final Fantasy Legend is a Japanese role -playing game developed and released by Square for the Game Boy portable device in December 1989. This is the first part of the Saga series and the first role -playing game for this console. The original Japanese name Makai Tushi Saga differs from used in the English version, published in September 1990, and is approximately translated as "a saga about a warrior in a tower in the world of spirits". The producers decided to use the Final Fantasy brand already known in the West, but in fact the game has nothing to do with this series. The Final Fantasy Legend was reprinted several times, in 1998 Sunsoft was completely redesigned by the Wonderswan Color pocket game system and mobile phones, in 2007 and 2008.
The main ideas of The Final Fantasy Legend belong to the Gam -designer Nobuyuki Khosino, the director and project manager of Akitosi Kavazu, the music was written by composer Nobuo Wematsu. The game, unlike the early parts of Final Fantasy, combines a fantasy environment with elements of science fiction, the fabulous world mixes with futuristic and modern achievements of science. It is also noteworthy that this is the first Square game, the circulation of which exceeded a million copies – the total sales amounted to 1.37 million copies. At one time, the game was awarded mixed reviews, but was recognized, nevertheless, one of the greatest games for Game Boy. A significant impact on the popular Pokémon series is noted. This game should not be confused with the Final Fantasy Legends in 2010, although they were created by one company, in addition to a similar name, they have practically nothing to do with.
Development.
The game was developed under the leadership of Nobuyuki Khosino and Akitosi Kavazu, two years after the release of Final Fantasy. This is the first part of the future Saga series and the first Square game for the Game Boy portable system. The then President of the company Masafumi Miyamoto asked the developers to start creating this game after he noticed the popularity of Tetris, which was growing with high speed, which was included with all the pocket consoles of Game Boy. Kavazu, along with his partner Koiti, has come to the conclusion that instead of a simple tetris -like arcade, they will better make the game in the usual role genre. As the authors themselves said, a small game for six to eight hours should have turned out so that it could be completely passed during the flight from Narita Airport to the Gawai city of Gonolulu. In addition, they sought to optimize the gameplay for several time intervals, separated by any break – as if, for example, a passenger of the metro train would interrupt the gameplay several times for the transition from one station to another. The developers increased the intensity of random meetings with monsters, compared to the rest of their RPGs, so that more than one battle took place during the transition between locations, and interest in what is happening would be constantly supported. The Final Fantasy Legend was created as a complex game with developed gameplay – in this Kawadzu saw the main difference between the Saga series from the Final Fantasy Saga. A lot of innovative ideas were implemented, in particular, a system of eating “meat” for the growth of personal characteristics of the characters – the gameplay has become more difficult to master if you compare it with other role -playing games, but at the same time more interesting.
Kavazu took an active part in writing the script, fulfilling it in collaboration with Isi, Takashi Tokita and Hiroyuki, who simultaneously worked on several other Square projects. The results and Ikia developed the whole game world, thought out its layout and geography, Ryoku Tanaka created all the rear backgrounds. The design of the characters was proposed by Tokita and later translated the illustrations of the heroes into spandic graphics himself. The Game Boy monochrome display put the developers in a difficult situation, because some effects, such as fire, turned out to be very difficult to convey in one color-I had to create a world “working in black and white colors”. Tanaka subsequently noted that the capacity of the 2-megaby Game Boy cartridge was not enough to implement all the ideas, and before the release, it was in a hurry to delete many non-combined elements.
Music for the game was written by composer Nobuo Wematsu, in total it turned out sixteen sound paths. He needed to make a lot of effort, since the sound -reproducing Game Boy microcircuit is significantly different from the Nintendo Entertainment System prefix, on which the company released most of its games. A new system of creating a stereo effect, a completely different way of transmitting a signal, a score of only three notes-all this had to be taken into account. Kavadu suggested writing music similar to the first two parts of the Final Fantasy, but Wematsu insisted on developing a completely new style. The capabilities of the console cartridges did not allow creating an impressive musical series, but the composer made every effort for this: “Of course, it would be much more pleasant to see high -quality music and graphics, but we should have been sure that our product would have to taste”.
Many of the compositions were subsequently used in the creation of other parts of the series (such as the topic of battle) and were published as part of various musical collections. The introductory melody, called the "Prolog", in a slightly modified form, opens the next two Saga games. “Heartful Tears” (also known as Wipe Your Tears Away), became an integral theme of five parts of the series, each time appearing with a new arrangement. Fifteen compositions of The Final Fantasy Legend got into the double album of All Sounds of Saga, published in 1991 – in December 2004 it was remade and re -released under the name Saga Zenkyoku Shu Shu. The last sound path, Journey’s End, is a potorri of the six other melodies of the game, combined by Wematsu together. In an interview, the composer noted that with great pleasure he listens to this composition, since along the way recalls all the brightest moments of the game. In 2008, during the next concert, Press Start -Symphony of Games, this song was performed by the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra as part of its program "When Nobuo Wematsu was young".
Releases and reprints.
The Japanese version of the game was released in December 1989 called Makai Tushi Saga, it included maps of all four worldwide worlds and was a little later reprinted with the correction of some minor errors. In March 1990, Square translated the game into English – it was originally planned to release it in North America with the heading of The Great Warrior Saga, but by September the popularity of the American version of Final Fantasy has increased sharply, and as a result, the name decided to change it to The Final Fantasy Legend. The developers made small changes to this version, in particular, they removed the final credits and increased the durability of some types of weapons. In addition, the scenario was adjusted: the mysterious speeches of Ryu became more understandable, all mention of the self-sacrifice and the true purpose of the tower disappeared, the dialogue with the creator became less ominous. In 1998, all three games of Final Fantasy Legend were processed by Sunsoft under the license and released them for Game Boy in a slightly improved form. Their employees were going to adapt the game for the Game Boy Color system, but this idea never found implementation.
In September 2001, Square announced the reissue of The Final Fantasy Legend for the Bandai Wonderswan Color pocket console. As a result, porting was carried out exclusively for Japan and, accordingly, retained the Japanese name behind it. The illustrator of Tosiyuki Itakhan specifically redrawn all conceptual drawings and graphics for this version, while the company’s programmers added some additional KAT scenes. The developers also allowed the player to see in the opposite in what shape the monitor is transformed after the meat remaining from the defeated enemies is eating. It is noteworthy that in this new version it is possible to play the original black and white version of the game for Game Boy. Among other changes are the adjusted names of objects and opponents, the appearance of the bestiaria and a somewhat automated combat system that allows the heroes to automatically aim at enemies during the battle.
Square Enix took up the next update of this trademark. In January 2007, they stated that they were working on the transformation of the Wonderswan version, and in September the Tokyo Game Show exhibition has released a ready-made port for mobile phones. In total, by the end of 2008, adaptations were made for devices connected to such communication operators as I-Mode, Ezweb and SoftBank. The developers had to remove the bestiary and the opportunity to play in the original version for Game Boy, as well as reduce some dialogs in KAT scenes. The Chinese language of the interface and additional stores selected if necessary were added, where you can purchase a new equipment during the execution of quests.
Merchandise.
In parallel with the game, some related goods were released, in particular books and telephone cards. Futabasha Publishing House in February 1990 published the book Makai Tushi Saga – Boukenshatachi No Rekuiemu (“Requiem of their adventures”). Written by Misa Ikedoy, the 287-page book became part of the children’s adventure series Futabasha, describing in detail the whole ascent of the heroes from the base of the tower to the very top. In August, Square included the game in its book Final Fantasy Ryūkishi Dan – Knights (“The Knights of the Dragon of the Last Fantasy”), where many reviews and rare conceptual drawings of Final Fantasy Legended on public display. In October 1992, the game was among the four items that fell into the program of the Game Players magazine called Game Player’s Gametape for Game Boy Games, a video, which demonstrates the capabilities of the game and gives tips to pass.
I want to finish this part on this, it remains only:
The best comments
Saga is not even Spinoff, it’s just a different game, you understand? As well as “Chocobo”, which are related to the final series only because they also have a chocobo. And that’s it.
PC in this case is the first comment.
But, damn it, seeing your careless attitude, the question remains: why? Why are you doing all this? For whom? Even I don’t master so much text without illustrations. And the "History of the Creation" must be written at the very beginning 😉
1. I am so insane that I consider the saga of one of the units of the FF universe.(And Vicki thinks so.)
2.But is it not from the final chokobo, isn’t it a part of its universe?
3.It is not possible to take screenshots yourself, because they are not done from Gamboy.
4.Played.
5.Wrote using WordPad.
6.If you look at my other posts, then you will not find PC with me.To. I am a purebred console and I don’t play PC, I use it only for working purposes.
And if seriously, then the saga will be all, and the chocobo will be all, it was necessary to read the preface to the first part of the history of the series.
No need to make all the pictures in spoilers. For now this huge wall of the text causes rejection and is a little rocking ..
And yes, I’m a little blank too … But it does not seem to you that so aaoo to describe these parts in detail … um … not worth?
Saga? She lost in the Final Fantasy series? She was also called solely for the purposes of PR in the United States. You and the Chokobo series are going to shove here?
Wait, why did you look for screenshots on the Internet if you played it yourself and could do them? Or you didn’t play? But how then the text wrote?
And the last question: where is PC? Protect people from your blog?
